We examine the PDS1 Deer Stalking Certificate - The Proficient Deer Stalking Certificate Level 1 (PDS1) has been a huge success in the UK and for many police constabularies is the unofficial requirement for those individuals who wish to apply for a firearm certificate (FAC) to shoot deer.
In the UK the PDS1 course has been key to providing a professional feel to deer stalking and has been responsible for equipping those involved in deer management, with the necessary skills and knowldge to be able to carry out the effective and humane control and management of deer.
At County Deer Stalking we are proud to support the Proficient Deer Stalkers Certificate Level 1 (PDS1) course, a nationally available course that is recognised by the Forestry Commission, Forestry England and NatureScot, and Accredited by the UK's two largest, land-based awarding bodies LANTRA and UK Rural Skills.
The PDS1 course is available via the 'Shooting & Hunting Academy' an online e-learning platform, that allows candidates to complete the course at a time and place that suits them via an easy to use, online e-learning platform.
The PDS1 also comes with a Large Game Meat Hygiene Course that complies with Food Standard Agency (FSA) guidelines. Follow this link for more: large-game-meat-hygiene
Leading on from the PDS1 Certificate is the popular PDS2 Certificate, which is designed for intermediate stalkers who are seeking to develop their fieldcraft and practical stalking skills in the field.
Completion of the PDS2 demonstrates practical skills in deer management that can be obtained during mentored, in-field, assessments.
So why take the Proficient Deer Stalking Certificate? Well as with most things, the requirements and constraints of deer management are unlikley to reduce, indeed there is much talk of mandatory training, so now might be the ideal time to take the PDS1 Deer Stalking Certificate. Why not get started, simply follow this link to enrol: Proficient Deer Stalking Course - PDS1
Failing that, by all means enjoy your deer stalking but beware the tide of increased legislation!
