Since its launch in 2007, the Z6(i) range of rifle scopes from Swarovski set the bench mark with their clarity, accuracy and superb design, and quickly became the industry standard for deer stalkers and hunters worldwide.

Always innovating, 2015 saw Swarovski Optik deliver the superb X5 long range rifle scope to great acclaim and again in 2016 the company launched the refined Z8(i) at the IWA show in Nuremberg.

New for 2017, Swarovski have revealed the secret project they have been developing and perfecting behind the scenes for many years. The revolutionary dS 5-25x52 P “smart” rifle scope.

So what’s the revolution everyone’s talking about?

In a nutshell, Swarovski have neatly incorporated a range finder into the dS which means at a touch of a button the “smart” dS measure’s the exact distance and automatically displays the correct aiming point, distance and windage adjustment scale.

The illuminated displayed aim point takes into account the magnification setting, air pressure, temperature and shooting angle. It also incorporates the individual ballistic data for the firearm calibre/ammunition combination. Data is applied via the dS Configurator app and the calculated ballistic curve is transferred directly to the dS via Bluetooth.

A line of Windage mark intervals are also displayed alongside the central “dot” aim point and are calculated based on the distance measured, the predetermined wind speeds set (inputted by the user at setup), and the ballistic data. There is no need for any manual adjustments to the dS before the shot is taken.

In all, a very clever piece of equipment particularly for the hill stalker who is frequently challenged by high winds, steep shooting angles and longer range shots.
