Our top tip for Roebuck Stalking

May is one of the best months of the year to be Roebuck Stalking.
As the Roebuck season enters full swing and with new grounds acquired in Hampshire and the Chiltern Hills, here at County Deer Stalking, we have heaps to be excited about.
By May, Roebuck have not only shed their ‘tatters’ and drab winter coat, but they will also be jostling among one another for territory. This means that they are both highly active and at their most attractive.
With the woodlands carpeted in Bluebells, the Rape fields a vivid yellow and the trees a lush green, Roebuck stalking during this time of year also offers the opportunity to step out into a kaleidoscope of gorgeous rich colours.
This year at County Deer Stalking & Capreolus Club, to add to the joy, we are delighted to have also acquired three new substantial areas of land over which we can stalk these elegant little deer, on both a guided and syndicate basis!
The grounds of which I speak are near Stockbridge, Hampshire and High Wycombe & Chesham in the Chiltern Hills. They are grounds of unrivalled beauty and opportunity; indeed, it is my experience, that with virgin grounds come undiscovered beasts and Roebuck grow big where they are least disturbed!
As you step out this May, this is a tip worth remembering. I urge you to explore that untouched corner of your ground, that little copse that you normally bypass, or the field which you scarcely tread. These untouched areas often reveal the most impressive males, who have been savvy enough to mature in the least disturbed recesses of your stalking ground.
