Named after the UK’s native Roe Deer, London based deer stalking and large game hunting club, the ‘Capreolus Club’ will mark its first year anniversary in just a few days time.

Since the launch of the Capreolus Club at the world famous Annabel’s in Mayfair, the club has more than doubled its initial intake of members and is now growing at a rate of around one member a week!

Of course meeting the high expectations of its members remains the top priority, and numerous exciting trips and events are planned in the months to come.

So what has this London based deer stalkers club been up to? Well in the first year alone the club has taken several trips to the Highlands for Red and Roe, and trips to Europe to shoot Boar. It has held park deer culls, stalking trips around the UK and range days for running deer, running boar and dangerous game. The club has also held socials at several swanky London venues including the Carlton Club, Holland & Holland and of course Annabel’s.

What is more, the Capreolus Club has made it accessible for many of its individual members to fulfil their ambition to hunt a variety of other species both at home and abroad. These have included Pere David, Chamois and African Plains Game.

Thanks to the high standard of competency demanded of its members, and due to the first class advice provided by experienced staff, a large number of its members have also been provided with first class assistance in achieving firearms applications and variations to current certificates.

It’s undoubtedly been a great first year for this ground breaking club and there is more to come.

Looking forward, and thanks to an inspired relationship with the West London Shooting School, the club is now able to offer its members regular free range days, during which members can meet and practice over a cup of coffee, whist exchanging stories and marksmanship tips.

The range days also offer an opportunity for prospective applicants to come and meet existing members and find out more about the club.

In part thanks to the support of Swarovski Optik, club members are also able to practice and receive tuition with a variety of rifle & scope combinations and calibres, ranging from deer stalking stalwart the .243, to the legendary African big game calibre .416 Rigby.

So what’s the future for the Capreolus Club? I spoke to club Chairman Peter Jones who revealed the club’s intention to do even more: “It is very important to the clubs reputation, that we retain our good standing in the sport and insure that our members uphold the very best traditions of sportsmanship”.

What is for sure, with a membership that is growing steadily week by week, the Capreolus Club is set to become a regular feature of the big game hunting world.

The event will be supported by Swarovski Optik, William Evans and the Lunzer Wine Club and is open to both existing members and to those who would like to come and find out more about this exciting new hunting club.
